Borderland Pride: Pumpkin Pride Social

Borderland Pride is the LGBTQA Pride organization serving the Rainy River District in Northwestern Ontario and Koochiching County in Northern Minnesota.

Join us on Thursday, October 26 between 7 and 10 PM at From the Grind Up for "Pumpkin Pride", our fall social mixer for LGBTQ and straight Ally members of the Borderland community.

There are no tickets or admission costs to this event, but attendees will need to purchase their own refreshments. Around 8:30 PM, we will provide those in attendance with a brief overview of our plans for the year ahead.

Fort Frances' first South Asian Festival. The festival will showcase the multitude of cultures within South Asia, and celebrate unity in diversity. Borderland Pride Organizing Meeting

Borderland Pride hosted a community roundtable meeting in Fort Frances on July 12. It was well-attended and the organizers have decided to move forward by recruiting an organizing committee and crafting a plan to bring Pride to Borderland in 2018.

Individuals who are interested in being part of a planning committee or who have ideas for Pride-related events for our communities are welcome to attend this organizational meeting.

Borderland Pride: The Big Gay Mexican Mardi Gras

Borderland Pride's second social mixer will take place on Thursday, February 15 from 7 to 10 PM.

We will be hosted by Barajas Mexican Grill in International Falls (right next to Cine 5, for those who haven't been).

Join us for our first-ever "Big Gay Mexican Mardi Gras" - an all ages networking social for the Borderland LGBTQ2 and Ally community. There is no cost to attend.

Barajas has a large selection of snacks and beverages. They are licensed to serve alcohol. Legal drinking age in Minnesota is 21.

Fort Frances Horticultural Association meeting

The Fort Frances Horticultural Association will hold its next meeting on Monday, March 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Frances Volunteer Bureau (the old CN station). The group, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, is planning a district convention here May 31-June 1. It’s a good time for new members to join. All gardening experience levels welcome.

2019 Borderland Autism Walk

Please join over 100 people to raise awareness of Autism in the Borderland Autism Awareness Walk. While April is World Autism Awareness Month, we are having our awareness walk on Saturday, June 1, 2019, as the weather is more conducive to outdoor activities.
Normally we hold this event in International Falls, but since it is an international event, we decided to have the walk take place in Fort Frances this year. The walk would begin at the riverfront at 1:00 pm, beginning at the Sorting Gap and ending at the corner of Crowe and Front Streets.

Terry Fox Run - Fort Frances

Come join us once again for the annual Terry Fox Run in Fort Frances! Celebrating over twenty years of the run being held in Fort Frances, last year we raised over $4,000 for innovative cancer research and we hope to have an even stronger showing this year!

Registration begins at 1 pm with the run starting at 2 pm. The race will follow the same route as last year, beginning at the Sorting Gap Marina and following the waterfront up to Point Park and back. Third-annual National Autism Awareness Day Walk

The third-annual National Autism Awareness Day Walk is planned for Saturday, April 7 at noon in International Falls, starting at Ronning’s. The walk will be followed by a carnival with games, food, and more at the Union Hall (509 Third St.). Everyone is welcome to attend.

Tourist Information Centre Opens

The Tourism Centre is your go-to spot for information on events and activities across the Rainy River District, and information on the many camps and lodges in Sunset Country. Open in the third week of May until late September at the International Border.

Family Day at Dreamweaver Ranch

You are invited to spend a day with us at Dreamweaver Ranch on Sunday, July 21, 2019 from 1 pm to 3 pm.

Come join us on a tour to meet all the horses at the ranch.  Watch out for Hollywood...he likes to sniff you! After that we will get to learn how to be safe around horses while we prepare to brush and groom them. Celynas loves to be brushed! Then we will saddle up and take turns riding while being assisted by one of our ranch volunteers. Jazzy is fun to ride and will work for carrots!

Legacy Golf Tournament

The Fort Frances Lions Club and Fort Frances Voyageur Lions Club present the Lions Legacy Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 22nd at 10 am at Heron Landing Golf Club.

 Entry fee is $100 per person or $400 per team.

Your fee includes 18 holes of golf, a cart and supper.
